Pakistan First Moon Sighting Website and Mobile Application
Ministry of Science & Technology has launched the moon-sighting website, to halt the moon sighting controversy in the country a couple of days ago. Now, they have launched the Moon Sighting Mobile App ‘ The Ruet‘.

As per the tweet of Federal Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry The Ruet is a utility and information application related to moon and sighting of the moon in Pakistan by Ministry of Science and Technology.

Main Features the Ruet App
Following are the main feature of the Ruet App:
– Current phase and age of the moon.
– Islamic Hijri Calendar.
– Setting location manually to any coordinates in Pakistan.
– New moon details by Islamic months.
– Moon phases calendar.
– Moon, Sun and all major planets positions on the interactive sky simulation.
The App displays various moon phases for a given month and other real-time information about the moon.
According to the app, Eid Ul Fitr will be celebrated on 5th June 2019 in Pakistan. However, Eid Ul Azha will be celebrated on August 12, 2019.
As per the app, the tentative dates for the next five years so next year Eid Ul Fitr will be marked on 24 May, and Eid Ul Azha will be on July 31.
Sensors Required for the Working of the App
Following sensors are required for the smooth working of the application:
– GPS
– Compass
– Accelerometer
– Gyroscope
The app uses Location permission (precise GPS and network-based location) for precise calculations of moon and sun position.
