To unlock Gradus ad Capitolium, complete the previous subquest of the Canticles of Harmony, The Last Day of Remuria.
Walkthrough
Head to “Domus Aurea”
- Travel through the cavern from Initium Iani:
- Scylla will guide you through to Alta Semita, where you will encounter the broken Golden Aqueducts.
- Reach Domus Aurea:
- After parting ways with Scylla, proceed to Domus Aurea.
- Meet Boethius and listen to his conversation with Monsieur Os and Cassiodor about the ideals of Remus and Boethius’ plans for Remuria.
Fend off the Golems
- Inside Domus Aurea:
- Boethius teleports you inside a dreamscape-version of Domus Aurea.
- Exhaust all dialogue options with Boethius.
- Survive the Golem Attack:
- Without your party, dodge and poke the golems to survive until Cassiodor teleports you out of the soul-palace.
Talk to Scylla
- Outside Domus Aurea:
- Reunite with Paimon and Scylla.
- Explain the events inside Boethius’ soul-palace.
- Scylla requests you to rebuild the Golden Aqueducts to open the gateway inside Domus Aurea.

- Alternatively, swim towards Scylla if he is nearby to receive guidance.
Align the Light-Guiding Mechanism
- Operate the Mechanism:
- Use the light-guiding mechanism to align the horn with the mural.
- Click the left arrow three times.
- Click the down arrow two times.
Guide the Flying Bird Phantasms
- Guide the Phantasms:
- Swim towards the Flying Bird Phantasms until they reach the mural.
- Ensure all five birds are guided correctly.
- Follow the Birds:
- Once the birds fly away from the mural, follow them to the Golden Aqueducts.
- Confirm Completion:
- The birds will fix themselves to the Golden Aqueducts, indicating completion of this part.

- Bird #1: Located to your left. Use the Humongous Hat Jellyfish to propel yourself upwards and chase the bird.
- Bird #2: Surrounded by Anemo Slimes. Defeat the Slimes using a Bow-character to guide the bird.
- Bird #3: Hovering above the horn. Use the Humongous Hat Jellyfish to launch yourself upwards and guide the bird.
- Follow the Birds:
- Once all birds are guided, follow them towards the end of the cavern.
- Activate the Waypoint along the way for easier navigation.

Final Steps
- Inside the Dreamspace:
- Teleport back into the dreamspace after rebuilding the aqueducts.
- Listen to Scylla’s conversation with the voice of Remus.
- Discuss this memory with Scylla after exiting the dreamspace.
